Installing Sliding Mirror Doors Is Easy

Due to the fickle economy, many people are deciding to stay in their current homes and renovate it themselves. This is a much cheaper option than purchasing a new home, and most certainly will be a wise financial decision. Many Do it yourself designs are super easy to do. Despite their simplicity, DIY projects can have a major impact on the beauty and convenience of your home, and remove the need to buy expensive services you can easily do yourself. One easy project that you can try on your own is installing sliding mirror doors in your closets.

A Guide To Installing Them Yourself

The first step is to measure the doorway. You must get an exact measurement to be sure that the track and doors will fit precisely. You may need to use a level to be sure your floor, as well as the track, is level. You can trim the track yourself or buy them custom fit for your closet. Pre-measured tracks are convenient and will save you work, but it may be more costly than cutting it yourself. After screwing the tracks into place, you need to position the doors on the tracks making sure the roller wheels fit snugly, you dont want to have to make a replacement. Make sure that the doors slide smoothly and evenly. You now have beautiful sliding closet doors.

If you do not want to do a totally new installation, it is possible to fix existing doors with a mirrored finish or perhaps alternatively in the style of closet french doors. Either way you should look for a well established, reputable company to manufacture your mirrors. They should fit the doors perfectly, leaving room for the doors to glide smoothly. The end result will only be as good as the quality of the original door. Therefore, before applying the mirror, please be sure that the doors are sturdy and in good working order. The doors should open and close effortlessly. Paint the doors if needed. After ensuring that your existing doors are up to par, place the mirrors on the closet doors for a brand new look. They could also be placed on a wardrobe to create a mirror wardrobe door.

Do it yourself projects are always a great way to improve your house and increase property value while saving money. With attention to detail and a little patience, you are very likely to end up with results that you will be proud of. It is very satisfying to look throughout your home and see the many improvements that you accomplished with your own hands. There is no reason why installing sliding mirror doors can't be one of them.

When To Consider Using A Contractor?

Hopefully so far this article has shown you how easy it can be to install your own doors. At the end of the day though if you are short on time, and perhaps don’t mind spending the money then it will be worthwhile getting a contractor to do the job for you. You might need to sell or rent your house or apartment in a hurry for example – and the installation of your mirrored closet doors might be a vital finishing touch. It is almost always a simple trade-off between convenience and money.

How To Select A Contractor?

I think these days it is becoming harder and harder to find a tradesperson you can trust to get the job done right. For this reason I always suggest you someone that someone else has had a good experience with. If your friend down the road had a great job done, chances you can be confident you will get a great job as well. In the case that you don’t know anyone who has had mirror closet doors installed, then I suggest you do some searching online for contractors in your local area. Then give each contractor a call and ask them the following questions:

1) Do you do a free in home quote?

2) Do you charge for the whole job or by the hour?

3) Can I supply my own materials or do I have to use yours?

4) What kind of warranty do I get with the mirror closet doors installation?

Once you have made some calls, got answers to your questions and gathered some quotes, do some further research on their reputation. An easy way to do this is to simply search for the business name and the word ‘review’. Often this will turn up some happy, and quite potentially unhappy customers.

If you follow the above steps and all signs are positive, I would suggest that you go ahead with your chose contractor. Oh, and one last tip, make sure that they have a guaranteed arrival time – you do not want to be taking a whole day off work just to be told the contractor cannot make it to your home!

I always love the designs that I see on TV, so when I saw how they were putting in these sliding doors with mirrors, I was intrigued. It is wonderful that things can serve two purposes because now I can get rid of a piece of furniture that's just in the way.

I have never been a fan of trying to build things inside the house. Just putting in a replacement window was a challenge for me, so I couldn't imagine adding sliding doors in the closet. The only good news here is that it is easier than I thought it would be.

I finally broke down and decided to buy these mirror doors that slide, but I realized when I got home that I didn't know how to put them up. It is a relief to be able to look this information up. If only I had researched before I bought because it would save me a trip back to the store.

When I started to look for a replacement mirror door for the hallway closet, I was very worried that it would be too hard to fix, but this sounds so very simple. The only thing I am wondering is about where you measure from. It's a different size on different parts of the jam.

When I decided to buy this armoire, I had no idea what a monster it would be for the space I had. Then my best friend told me to get sliding doors for it, and I am relieved by how easy it sounds. Next time I will be sure to measure the space before buying anyhting.

We were thinking about moving but decided instead to take on some small projects like adding sliding doors in the bedroom. It sounds so easy that I don't know why we didn't think of this before. Now if we could just find a simple way to fix the window, we'd be all set.

I asked my best friend did ya know how to build a mirror door in the bathroom, and he said that it was pretty easy although he'd never did it himself. Now I just have to find a track that will fit in there. I think it must be an odd size.
